Jackie said this:
"This quote from the article really ticked me off: "Although some may call it a "one size fits all" approach, the recommended vaccine schedule is flexible, and it does account for instances when a child should not receive a recommended vaccine or when a recommended vaccine should be delayed.""

I totally agree! Try telling the school system in a state without a philosophical exemption that you and your doctor decided to delay or forgo a shot. Its time for these mandates to die. The federal government needs to step in and call emergency sessions of every state legislature for immediate revisions to the public health law.

I agree with you, Doctor, dear Doctor, when you say, "Dr. Poling hit the nail on the head when he said that pediatricians need to have a grass-roots movement to determine the individual vaccine schedule for each child."

Because, now that the debate is over, there's a lot of confusion and fear and wondering "What do we do now? What do we do about vaccination, exactly?"

I listened to this clip three times, and each time, I was struck especially by the beauty and power and moral clarity of what Dr. Poling said in just the last minute or so.

He said, "We took an oath to our individual patient. . ."

The oath to which he refers, of course, is "first do no harm."

And the best way to do no harm is to look at the person who is before you, and to weigh carefully the benefits and risks of any drug, or any individual vaccine, and to determine to the best of your knowledge whether this person is more likely to be harmed by taking the vaccine or by not taking it.

Not by rolling back the clock by twenty years. Not delaying all vaccines until the age of two, and then giving them all. Not by maintaining any system that blindly demands that a certain percentage of the population be vaccinated, no matter what.

Three days ago (was it just three days ago?) we turned the first corner:

"THE DEBATE IS OVER."--David Kirby

And now we've already turned the second corner:

"WE TOOK AN OATH TO OUR INDIVIDUAL PATIENT."--Dr. Jon Poling

The vaccine "program," the vaccine "schedule," the concept of "herd immunity"--all of these are OVER, as of today.

And the relief I feel must be shared by many, since all of us now know the price of herd immunity, and that price is the willful harming of some for the protection of the many.

We have not eliminated all sickness with vaccinations; we have caused sickness in some, and not just a few, for the false promise of "no sickness, ever" for the many.

To the best of our ability, doctors as well as parents, we have to do what is right for every child who is born.

That is the ancient and sacred oath that has been broken: "First, do no harm."

And that oath is taken toward the individual patient.

Terri

And that oath is not to

Has anyone seen the latest commentary on CNN titled: A View from the CDC On Autism by Anne Schuchat and Edwin Trevathan?

http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/conditions/04/04/cdc.commentary/index.html

This quote from the article really ticked me off: "Although some may call it a "one size fits all" approach, the recommended vaccine schedule is flexible, and it does account for instances when a child should not receive a recommended vaccine or when a recommended vaccine should be delayed."

TELL THAT TO THE DOCTORS, YOU IDIOTS. How many parents have been intimated or made to feel stupid by their own Pediatricians because we've had reservations or concerns? My first pediatrician gave me a real hard time because I did not want to give my daughter the HEP B vaccine. He even went as far to write notes in my daughters records that "Mother was too anxious for vaccine" My sisters doctor told her she could not be seen by him if her kid did not get his MMR. How F**KING Arrogant!! These Doctors (not all but most) have the God Complex.

I am so mad that all of a sudden the CDC is coming out saying that the "the ball has been on the parents court" this whole time to decide to spread out the vaccines. Most busy parents do not have time to read up on your screw up CDC. That is your freakin job CDC!!!!!!

So I would like to make a call to all parents and help report all the freakin doctors that made every parent feel like crap for questioning the vaccine schedule.

WHERE DO WE START? WHO DO WE CALL??? Any suggestions!

I'm mad as hell and am ready to take action.

Mad as Hell Mommy
Jacky

Gupta said he fully vaccinated his 2 1/2 yr old but did not mention his 13 month old, who is now due for her MMR/Varicella day.

Does Gupta have an obligation to tell the world if he is following the CDC's schedule?

JB

I saw this live on CNN and seeing it again here gives me the opportunity to really take it in and to say a huge and grateful thank you to Jon and Terry Poling!

Both of you have begun a dialogue on vaccines, mitochondria disease/dysfuction, and autism that has turned up the volume on our very passionate journey. I could not have asked for better representatives for my daughter.

All my best.

I LOVED this question from Gupta after he explained that he had two young girls who seem to be developing normally after vaccination:

"What does that mean to me?"

I detected a bit of "fear" in his question. I would have loved for Jon to throw the question right back at him to see how he would have answered it.

Bottom Line: The rapport that he had with Jon Poling was awesome. You can tell that he has tremendous respect for him.

I think Dr. Poling hit the nail on the head when he said that pediatricians need to have a grass-roots movement to determine the individual vaccine schedule for each child. It is a given - there is NO debate ;) - that vaccines CAN tip a child into autism. That said, its time (way overdue I might add) for the AAP to get its act together to determine the best way to get this country's children into a better state of health - overall.

The days of vehemently shaking your head to the contrary "no, its not vaccines, vaccines are safe" are over. That part has been abundantly proven. The question remains, what are you going to do about it? The ball, dear doctor is now back in your court!! We are waiting.
