ABC DOESN'T CAVE TO PEDIATRIC GROUP
By Kim Stagliano
From Reuters: "The ABC network said on Monday it will go ahead with plans to air an episode of its new legal drama "Eli Stone" despite objections from pediatricians who say the show may discourage parents from having their children immunized."
Read the complete story HERE.
Do doctors demand censorship of programs where fictional characters engage in unsafe sex? Do doctors demand censorship of programs where underage drinking is shown?
I think the AAP realizes they have a huge problem on their hands. Parents do not believe that over the counter drugs, prescription drugs or vaccines are 100% safe for 100% of children 100% of the time. Instead of mounting studies to prove that administering dozens of vaccines to infants and toddlers is safe, the AAP screams, "IT'S NOT TRUE! LIES! CRAZY PARENTS!"
Pass the popcorn. I've got a program to watch. Thursday night at 10pm. Eli Stone.
(PS) Who can tell me why I chose that headline? Tell me in the comments.
Kim Stagliano is Managing Editor of Age of Autism, a Huffington Post blogger and blogs HERE. She and her husband have three daughters with autism.

The AAP, the American Academy of Propaganda is at it again with the same old patronizing party line i.e. vaccines are safe & effective, mercury doesn't cause autism, blah, blah, blah. We know where their funding comes from, the drug/vaccine companies; they will never bite the hand that feeds them....

YAY! Cathy, your gold star is beautiful! :-) We shall treasure the fun we had today thanks to Kim. Thanks Kim! I was laughing so hard when I read both your comments! It was the belly laugh of the day!
My son was born in 2001 (my younger son - more severe). My yes how we all have become more educated and as I said when I called out the AAP - we have unfortunately learned all this through real life expereinces. And this has led to countless hours of research... While it stinks that our kids and we their parents have to go through all this - there is much comfort knowing that we are not alone. And it is good to know we can still have fun - which sometimes comes in the form of guessing games from Kim :-) Thanks again Kim... love it when you do that!

Wahoo! Thanks for my gold star--it's so pretty :) Yours is pretty too, Angela.
I send parents to Dr. Cave's article when people ask for information. It's condensed and from 2002, but still very relevant: http://www.mothering.com/articles/growing_child/vaccines/biochemistry.html It's a quick to-get-to read before someone can go out and buy Dr. Cave's book.
Ironically, 2002 was the year Ronan was born. How clueless was I way back then getting all his vaccines in a somewhat timely manner! Thankfully though, I've come out of my own cave (ha ha) and now can voice our concerns to the world via this awesome newslink.
Keep on rocking, ageofautism.com. You are hope to many.

LOL! Cathy and Angela win! Yes, Dr. Cave. And Cathy, I didn't get to scroll down your comment to the PS so I missed your entry! Phone rang or the kids bus showed up or something.
Cathy is our gold star winner. Angela is our second gold star winner and the super gold star winner for honesty. Two terrific contributors to Age of Autism.

What Your Doctor (AAP) May NOT Tell You About Children's Vaccininations. But if this is right then Cathy gets the gold for mentioning Dr. Cave. At the very least three quarters :-)

Ok, hint of all hints. Think cave. Now think about what they sell at Amazon.com. GO.

Hi Kim,
Could it be "Eli Stone" - cave - cave is the absence of stone (cavity) so when you don't cave you still get (Eli) Stone.????

KIM SAYS NO! Think NAMES.....
Oh I just can't help myself. My kids are napping and I'm having some fun mommy time :-) Does it have something to do with cave dwellers?

KIM SAYS: NO!
Ok... longshot here... does it by any chance have something to do with "Clan of the Cave Bear"? I know - like I said... longshot :-)

Angela Warner - so sorry. No gold star for you either. Keep thinking! (Hint, think about people not places.)

Hi Kim,
I think we're gonna have to pull out the Whirly Pop for this special occasion!
The Headline... Is it because everybody caves to organizations like AAP and the CDC? They cave in and then go back in their cave? And ABC didn't cave!

Why is AAP all crazy over this show, yet they didn't protest Oprah or Larry King or the View when Jenny M was on? Is it because they didn't know ahead of time what Jenny would say?
I would think Jenny's message was stronger and more likely to have an effect on parents' decisions to vaccinate then this fictional tv show would.

Kelli Ann Davis, sorry, no gold star today! Keep thinking.

My guess:
Reference to another ABC show called the "Cavemen"?? I think there was some controversy on that as well?? I only know this from a call this morning and I remember the individual mentioning this show.
BTW: Do I get a "Gold Star" if I guess right?

Hey Kim,
I agree that the AAP has only succeeded to show just how freaking desparate they have become - as for the heaadline, it must refer to the caves of Tora Bora, obviously the only safe refuge for the leaders of this pathetic group when this show provokes the average viewer into dialogue (not hysteria) and education on the thimerosal issue.
They beter pack plenty of underwear........

Kim,
Great news! I too will be propped up with a bowl of tasty snacks to watch this now very anticipated show. This issue with vaccines and autism is so old news to many of us parents. It's about time the controversy got flipped around back to the medical field.
I'm curious as to how the AAP will react after thousands of parents, some who will unknownigly stumble across a regular ol' tv show, start questioning their pediatricians about the safety of vaccines. Oh to be a fly on the wall at the AAP this week!

Oh...the headline? Does it have to do with Dr. Stephanie Cave who has helped many children on the spectrum? I only wished I'd seen her book and 2002 magazine article sooner. It could have saved my son some damage.
